During our first fifteen hours of learning and practice, we will explore the safest and most commonly used asanas (or postures) in Hatha Yoga practice. We begin to identify the muscles being utilized for each posture and explore the contraindications (a reason to not do specific postures due to the harm it could cause the student) and modifications (using props or adjustments to the pose to make it safer for the student’s condition) for each asana. We practice safe asana sequencing with anatomy and physiology integrated into the class discussion. Over the twelve modules (15 hours each) of the 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training, regular practice of these postures will be assigned homework.
